Building a Better Backside
Let’s face it; one of the most sought after fitness goals is building a better backside. And with good reason, too. Developing and strengthening your glutes will help prevent lower back injuries while turning some heads in the process. It’s a win-win for health and aesthetics and it doesn’t have to be overly complex either. Here are two effective exercises you can do at the gym to start you on the path to a healthy booty.
The one-word answer is: deadlift.
Now, before you start yelling at me and screaming that you don’t want to get big and bulky, hear me out on this one. Doing the deadlift is the best way to develop the entire posterior region of the body. Put in a different way, it’s the best way to improve your posture and lift and perk those glutes. All the cardio and spin classes won’t do anything for your rumpus. In fact, it will probably makes matters. Here’s a link for a variation of the deadlift, called the Romanian Deadlift, that will ensure you develop a better backside injury-free.

Still scared? The second-best option is the Bulgarian Split Squat. When done correctly, you will ONLY feel this great backside exercise right on your backside. The trick is putting a majority of your weight on the front foot and pushing off the heel of the front leg. If you feel the ‘burn’ in your quad, or front of the leg, you are likely putting too much pressure and pushing off your toes rather than your heels. Check out the demonstration below for a great visual of the exercise. If you do add the Romanian Deadlift and Bulgarian Split Squat to your regular exercise routine, two things will happen. 1) You will hate those Europeans for creating these exercises, and 2) Your backside be ready for bikini season in no time.
